FAMILY PRESERVATION
Family Preservation is an in home program designed to support families in their natural environment. It is designed to be as flexible as possible, as to not add additional stresses to the family. The worker's goal is to develop a plan, with the family, to focus on the positive attributers of each family member and build on their weaknesses. We currently have two staff that provide family preservation services at KRNCS. Both members have a minimum of five years of experience in case management and therapeutic intervention. Family preservation is often put in place to avoid disruption in placement. It is utilized for biological families as well as foster families to strengthen the ties and work on maintaining stability.
Family preservation is a more intensive service, done in home with families, biological, foster or adoptive. This therapeutic approach helps families to address issues head on and build skills to eventually depend on more natural resources. In addition, these services are utilized to assess safety and risk.
Family preservation has many sides to it. From the least restrictive life skills, to the most intensive, in home.
